The UAE government lately has been working to utilize technology to enhance government efficiency and further raise customer service standards.

According to the authorities, the upcoming system, which would be built in collaboration with the strategic partners, will utilise facial recognition and artificial intelligence technologies. The announcement was made in a written response to the Federal National Council (FNC), while addressing a question from Dr. Adnan Hamad Al Hammadi, a member of the Council, reports Gulf News.

Al Hammadi noted that the requirement to produce a physical ID card to access health services and banks is in demand for financial transactions. Even hotel guests are required to produce their original ID card to access the service. “There is an urgent need for fast, effective solutions to streamline identity verification in these essential sectors,” he said.
