Aadujeevitham: When A Group Of NRIs Interacted With Actor Dr Talib Al Balushi In An Oman Restaurant

A group of Malayali NRIs sat down with Dr Talib Al Balushi in a Muscut restaurant to talk about his latest Malayalam release Aadujeevitham, directed by acclaimed director Blessy featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role. Dr Talib, he is playing the villain’s character in the survival drama originally written by Malayalam author Benyamin, talked about the movie, his experience with the makers of Aadujeevitham, Malayalam movie industry and his works with the Keralites gathered in 1947 Indian restaurant at Al Ghubra, Muscat.

“We putting our best efforts to release Aadujeevitham in Oman. There are a large number of movie-goers who are waiting for the release of the movie in this country. The efforts under Oman Film Society is underway,” Dr Talib, who holds his PhD in film studies from an Egyptian university, told the NRIs gathered in the restaurant for a special dinner and conversation.

“We are hopeful that this will work out,” he expressed his hopes.

The Omani actor, who has several features and shorts in his credits, showered praises on director Blessy. “He is not just a director, he a god-blessed human,” said Dr Balushi, whose name became familiar to Malayalam movie buffs during the Covid period. He was quarantined in Jordan when the actor went for the second schedule of Aadujeevitham during Covid.

He expressed his desire to act more in Malayalam projects. “I will act in Malayalam if I am given chances. I don’t speak much Malayalam, but I can speak Urdu and Hindi, and ready to work in Hindi as well if I am offered roles,” he said.

Dr Balushi is a also a great admirer of Aadujeevitham’s lead actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. He recalled how the professionalism and brilliance of Prithviraj impressed him during the shooting of the movie and also when he visited the Indian actor in the location of movie ‘Kaduva’.

“Aadujeevitham is a movie worth watching from theatres,” he said while praising moviemakers for creating a visual magic. He also talked about Jimmy Jean-Louis, the Hollywood actor who dons the roles of actor-producer for the movie.

For those gathered for the event, the conversation gave a chance to meet and know the actor and personality – Dr Talib Al Balushi.

“Presence of Dr Talib will give the movie the much-reserved momentum in Oman. However, the movie has already garnered enough attention among the common folks here. In my case, my office colleagues are keep asking about the movie and its story for the last two weeks,” said Muhammed Rafeek, a Kerala-origin working professional in Muscat.

Dr Balushi is a a great admirer of Aadujeevitham’s lead actor Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Dr Talib had earlier said that the movie will be a milestone performance in his career. “It is my luck that I am part of a massive movie project, and it is a great achievement for me to act along with Prithviraj. I am thankful to director Blessy for this. Blessy made me part of the movie as he was visiting Oman. He is not just my director, but a great friend as well. I have been to Blessy’s home in Kerala several times. Aadujeevitham was a fantastic experience for me,” he had told a Malayalam daily earlier.


Aadujeevitham is not the first outing for Dr Balushi with Malayalam movie industry.

He has also acted in Zayana, and India-Omani production, with Noura Al Farsi, Ali Al Amri, Riju Ram and MR Gopakumar. The movie is directed by Dr Khalid Al Zadjali, a well-established film director and filmmaker, and also one of the pioneers of Omani films. Zayana tells the story of an Omani woman who comes to India for medical treatment.
