Shilpa Rao Said “It’s Time To Break The Shackles Of Hate And Fear”. Then A Congress Vs BJP On Her Comment Section

Edited by Fathimathu Shana

Shilpa Rao, the Indian singer took to her X (formerly twitter) account, and wrote, “It’s time to break the shackles of hate and fear!!!!”. It is interesting to note that Rao did not link the “shackles of hate and fear” to the Modi government, Congress or the ongoing Lok Sabha election. However, considering the political atmosphere in the country, internet automatically connected the dot and perceived who and who is being talked about.

Her comment sections appeared to be a Congress vs BJP election battle. While the Congress supporters wrote “Modi Hatao, Desh Bachao” and asked to vote for Congress, BJP supporters wrote that India has already broke all the shackles of hate and fear back in 2014 itself, and it was Rao, who was late by 10 years to realise that, hinting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s win as the PM in 2014 and 2019.

A user named Tarun asked why the BJP supporters are associating the tweet with ‘Modi’ since Rao has not mentioned him. One user said the singer should be sent to Pakistan. The user wrote, “Ye Intifada gaslighting chutiyapa Pakistan main failao”. One user even said that Shilpa Rao should be boycotted.

Some appreciated Rao for speaking up at least now, as most of the “Bollywood is sleeping to say anything about the HATE”.

One user wrote that it is over for Rao “once Malviya finds you sang Besharam Rang”, citing Amit Malviya who is the national convener of the IT cell of the BJP.

Shilpa Rao sung the ‘Besharam Rang’ song featuring the sizzling chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in their film Pathaan. The song was about being confident in one’s skin despite what colour they are of. It portrayed Deepika in rusty orange coloured bikini, which did not sit well with BJP supporters as they perceived the colour to be their party’s signature colour saffron.
