Edited by Hiba Anvar

Deep Bayan is fielded as the Congress candidate from Barpeta constituency. The constituency has become a focal point of contention within the opposition camp, with both the Congress and CPI(M) announcing their respective candidates.

Many penned letters to Congress appealing to reconsider its decision to field Deep Bayan in Barpeta. But responding to the letter, the State Congress working president Zakir Hussain Sikdar emphasized that Deep Bayan’s candidature was the result of extensive deliberations with party leaders and workers.

Congress fielded Deep Bayan by canceling the ticket of the sitting MP Abdul Khaleque. The Barpeta Parliamentary constituency stands out as a significant constituency and a key player in Assam politics among the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state.
