Former Congress MLA Raju Parve: Shiv Sena Candidate From Ramtek

Edited by Hiba Anvar

Former Congress MLA Raju Parve is fielded as the Shiv Sena candidate from Ramtek constituency. The resignation of Raju Parve came as yet another jolt to the grand old party recently.

Raju Parwe’s political career began in 2015 when he joined the National Congress Party. But before that in 2014, Raju contested the election from Umred Vidhan Sabha seat as an independent candidate. Unfortunately, the former Congress leader had to face defeat by a margin of 68,002 votes. In the 2019 election, Raju Parve contested the election on Congress ticket and won by a margin of 18,029 votes. When the Congress party denied him the ticket to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Raju Parve left the party and joined Ek Nath Shinde-led Shiva Sena.

The Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Maharashtra. The constituency was created for the 1957 Indian general election for the 2nd Lok Sabha. Presently the constituency comprises six Vidhan Sabha segments. In the 2019 general election, Shiva sena candidate Krupal Tumane won defeating Congress candidate Kishore Uttamrao Gajbhiye by securing 5,94,827 votes.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Shiva Sena candidate Krupal Balaji Tumane won the seat by defeating Congress candidate Mukul Wasnik by securing 5,19,892 votes.

As the Lok Sabha election campaigning for the phase of polls comes to an end, an intriguing three-way contest is on the cards in Maharashtra’s Ramtek. Ramtek will go to the poll on Friday. The ruling Mahayuti coalition pulled out all the stops to give an edge to its candidate Raju Parwe of the Shiv Sena (Shinde) in terms of campaigning.
