Hindutva Goons Surround Muslim Cleric, Force Him To Chant 'Jai Shri Ram' In Maharashtra’s Jalgaon
Jalgaon, Maharashtra: Muslim cleric (imam) on his way to lead prayer in a village was surrounded by a group of men and forced to chant “Jai Shri Ram” in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district.
Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media, which show the cleric being allegedly intercepted by four or five men on his way back and forced to raise the slogans. The group allegedly filmed the incident and circulated the video on social media.

The video shows one of the goons intimidating the Muslim cleric by repeatedly asking him to chant the religious slogan when he showed reluctancy. Threatened by the miscreants, the visibly frighted Imam chanted the slogan. A resident of Marul village in Jalgaon’s Yawal taluka, the Imam, Hafiz Qasam, was returning after leading prayer in Parola village.
Notably, a complaint has been registered against the accused goons following the intervention by AIMIM national spokesperson Waris Pathan. Pathan said that his party flagged the matter with senior police officials and pushed for a formal complaint.

Notably, the hate incident follows a pattern of similar attacks being documented across India in which Muslim men, including clergy, teachers, and daily-wage workers, have been targeted by vigilante groups and compelled to chant religious slogans under threat or physical force. Notably, another video surfaced online showed the key accused apologising for hurting the sentiments of Muslims after police registered the FIR.
