IPL 2024: Jay Shah’s Heartening Initiative To Host Cancer Patients Earns Respect On Social Media

Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah invited cancer and thalassemia patients for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

A total of 12,000 patients were present at the venue along with their families. Along with them, blood donors and blood donation camp organizers were also included in the special invitee list. The initiative was taken to raise awareness about cancer and thalassemia, and the challenges faced by those living with the condition.

The special gesture from Jay Shah and BCCI earned a lot of plaudits from cricket fans on social media. One of the fans tweeted, “Wow, Amazing initiative jay shah”.

The match between GT and DC turned out to be a low-scoring affair as the hosts were bundled out for 89 runs after being put into bat. In response, the visiting side chased down the total in the ninth over with six wickets in hand.
