German carmaker, BMW’s newly launched BMWiX1electric SUV, has sold out in India for the rest of the year just within hours of its launch as booking opened. The electric SUV was priced at Rs.66.90 lakh, ex-showroom, reported the mint. The carmaker did not reveal the number of units that went on sale but had said that the BMWiX1 would be sold as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). The delivery of the luxury car would begin in October 2023.

On this extraordinary response of selling out in India for the rest of the year as soon as booking opened, BMW India President Vikram Pawah said in a statement, that, “It is thrilling to receive such an extraordinary response for the first fully electric BMW iX1. Being sold out completely on launch day itself is a great debut for the iX1 in India. True to its nature, it has charged ahead and exceeded. And this is just the beginning! We are confident that this exclusive electric SUV is poised to be a front-runner in the luxury electric car segment. With cutting-edge electric choices from BMW Group India, our progressive consumers will further drive the advent of sustainable mobility.”

The launch of the first fully electric  BMWiX1, comes after the launch of X1 SUV earlier this year in January. On the features of BMWiX1, it carries the manufacture’s xDrive, which is an all-wheel drive technology, providing up to 440 kms on a single charge. It uses the fifth-generation e-Drive technology, with a rapid acceleration which can give a 0-100 kms in just 5.6 seconds.

The battery pack 66.4kWh, is coupled with dual electric motors, that is one each at the axle which delivers power to all the four wheels through an AWD system. BMWiX1, luxury electric SUV can go up to a top speed of 180 kmph and generate an ultimate power of 308 bhp with a maximum torque of 494 Nm.

As about the charging, it comes with rapid charging technology – 130 kW DC fast charger. In just 20 minutes, the battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent. The carmaker has said that a fast charge of 10 minutes could lead to a range of 120 kms. Moreover, with an 11 kW AC charger, the battery pack can be fully charged within an approximate 6.3 hours.

The first fully electric BMWiX1 comes with choices of Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Mineral White, M Portimao Blue, Frozen Pure Gray, Cape York Green and Space Silver metallic. The upholstery choice include, ‘M Alcantara/Veganza combination | Black/contrast stitching Blue”, the website said.

In the interior, there are intuitive controls in the cockpit – “with fewer button and more intuitive”, the website said, along with a modern central console and an illuminated luggage compartment. The digital highlights include, ‘proactive route suggested by BMW Maps – Connected Navigation, the smartphone integration of BMW iX1″ which “supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto’ and a ‘simply insert and charge’ option.

The drivers’ assistance features comes with reversing and parking assistance with the reversing assistance remembering the last 50 mts movements and parking assistance preventing parking damage. The glass sunroof is panoramic says the website.
