Hero Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0: The Iconic Commuter Gets a Modern Upgrade
Hero MotoCorp has introduced the latest iteration of its iconic Splendor series, the Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0, priced at Rs 82,911 (ex-showroom). This launch commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Splendor, a model that has been a mainstay in the Indian two-wheeler market and a significant contributor to Hero’s success, even before its separation from Honda.
Hero Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0: What’s New?
The Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 is essentially an upgrade of the previous Xtec variant. Despite the enhancements, Hero has retained the classic design that resonates with its loyal customer base. The modern amenities, however, mark a substantial upgrade. One of the standout features is the LED headlight with an integrated LED position lamp. The rear end is adorned with an H-shaped signature LED taillamp, adding a contemporary touch to the bike’s traditional aesthetics.
Hero has also introduced the Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 in three new color schemes: Matte Grey, Gloss Black, and Gloss Red, offering more choices for the customers. Other styling elements, such as side hooks, a tubular grab rail that doubles as a small tail rack, and a chrome-finished engine crash guard, remain unchanged, preserving the bike’s familiar look.
The new model claims to offer increased comfort with a longer seat and added convenience with a larger glove box featuring a hinge-type design.
Modern Features and Amenities
The Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 is equipped with a fully-digital instrument console, which is a significant upgrade from the previous models. This console includes an eco-indicator, Real Time Mileage indicator, service reminder, and a side stand indicator. These features aim to enhance the riding experience by providing vital information at a glance.
Hero has also integrated a USB charging port and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing riders to receive call, text, and battery alerts directly on the instrument console. Safety features are robust, with a dedicated hazard switch, side-stand engine cutoff, and a bank angle sensor, which contribute to a safer riding experience.
Hero Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0: Powertrain Specs
Under the hood, the Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 retains the reliable 100cc single-cylinder engine, delivering 7.09 bhp and 8.05 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired with a four-speed gearbox, ensuring smooth and efficient power delivery. One of the key highlights is the impressive mileage of 73 kmpl, bolstered by Hero’s i3s (Idle Stop Start System), making it one of the most fuel-efficient bikes in its class.
Hero MotoCorp is also offering a service interval period of 6,000 km, which helps in reducing the running costs significantly. This long service interval is designed to appeal to cost-conscious customers, further enhancing the bike’s value proposition.
The new-gen Hero Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 is a testament to Hero’s commitment to blending tradition with modernity. While retaining the classic design that has made the Splendor a household name, the 2.0 version introduces a range of modern features that cater to the evolving needs of today’s riders. With its enhanced comfort, advanced digital features, and robust safety measures, the Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 is set to continue its legacy as a trusted companion for the Indian middle-class commuter.
