Kia is set to unveil the facelifted Sonet on December 14, 2024, marking the first major update to the subcompact SUV since its launch in August 2020. The Korean automaker has actively teased specific attributes of the upcoming car on social media, with the latest teaser video showcasing updated exterior styling. The facelifted Sonet will introduce additional features and new colour schemes.
Variants & Color Options:
The facelifted Sonet will be available in seven trims—HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+, and X-Line. Get ready for 11 stunning colours from Kia, featuring the debut of Pewter Olive and Xclusive Matte Graphite. The latter will be exclusive to the X-Line variant. The colour choices range from monotone options like Pewter Olive and Aurora Black Pearl to dual-tone combinations like Intense Red/Aurora Black Pearl.
Updated Design:
Teasers have revealed changes to the front fascia, featuring revised LED headlamps, DRLs, and fog lamps. The rear end showcases new vertically-oriented LED taillamps with a pixelated treatment, replacing the current wraparound units. The rear bumper has been tweaked, housing revised reflectors, and the roof-mounted spoiler appears more prominent.
New Features:
The interior layout remains largely similar, with notable additions such as a fully-digital instrument console featuring twin virtual dials, a four-way electric power driver seat, paddle shifters, front ventilated seats, and a seven-speaker Bose audio system. Kia has prioritised safety enhancements, introducing a Level 1 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite with features like Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, and more.
Powertrain Options:
The 2024 Sonet will retain multiple engine and transmission options. The entry-level variants will feature a 1.2-liter NA petrol engine with 82 bhp and 115 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1-liter turbo engine will offer 118 bhp and 172 Nm, with transmission options including a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and a 6-speed clutchless manual. The Sonet will continue to offer a 114 bhp 1.5-liter diesel engine with 250 Nm, providing a choice between a 6-speed clutchless manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
