Mahindra Unveils Thar Earth Edition: A Tribute To Thar Desert's Majesty
Mahindra recently introduced the Thar Earth edition, a variant of its popular compact off-roader paying homage to the expansive and rugged terrain of the Thar desert. Priced at Rs 15.40 lakh (ex-showroom), this edition is based on the LX hard-top variant and comes in both petrol and diesel options.
The Thar Earth edition stands out with its distinctive exterior features. Drawing inspiration from the vastness of the Thar desert, it sports a unique satin matte paint scheme called Desert Fury, accentuated by metallic treatment to capture the essence of sand sparkle. Dune-inspired decals adorn the doors and rear fender, while silver alloys and matte black badges add to its exclusivity. The Earth Edition badge proudly displayed on the B pillars enhances its special appeal. Additional visual enhancements include ORVMS with Desert Fury inserts, a body-coloured grille, and Thar branding inserts on the alloy wheels, all contributing to its unique character.
Inside, the cabin exudes sophistication with an all-black theme complemented by light beige accents. Beige leather seats featuring dune designs on the headrests add a touch of luxury. Desert Fury inserts on the dual-tone AC vents, steering wheel, and center console accentuate the theme, while dark chrome accents and piano black finishes elevate the overall ambiance. Each Thar Earth Edition comes with a unique numbered decorative VIN plate, adding a personalized touch.
While the feature list remains consistent with other variants, Mahindra offers optional accessories for the Thar Earth edition, including customized front and rear armrests, 7D floor mats, and a comfort kit.
Under the hood, buyers have a choice between petrol and diesel engines. The 2.0-liter mStallion turbocharged petrol engine generates 150 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, while the 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine delivers 130 bhp and 300-320 Nm of torque. Both engines are available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Additionally, a 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case comes standard, ensuring optimal performance on varied terrains.
