MG Gloster Storm Range Expanded: Introducing the New Desertstorm and Snowstorm Variants

Morris Garages (MG) India has expanded its Gloster lineup with the addition of two new variants, Desertstorm and Snowstorm, both priced at Rs 41.05 lakh (ex-showroom). These new additions enhance the Gloster’s competitive edge in the large D-segment SUV market, where it rivals the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and Skoda Kodiaq. MG had been teasing the Storm variants for some time, building anticipation among potential buyers.

Exterior Design and Features

Both new variants feature unique exterior updates with distinct color schemes. The Desertstorm variant boasts a Deep Golden exterior, drawing inspiration from the previously launched Blackstorm edition. This variant features contrasting black highlights on the front grille, alloy wheels with red calipers, and ORVMs. Additional sporty touches include Red Isle LED headlamps, Highlands Mist LED tail lamps, and all-black door handles, DLO garnish, roof rails, spoiler, and fender garnish.

The Snowstorm variant, on the other hand, showcases a sleek dual-tone Pearl White and Black exterior. It features red inserts in the headlamp clusters and red accents on the front and rear bumpers. The front grille, alloy wheels, and rear spoiler are finished in gloss black, with the taillights receiving a smoked effect. This combination gives the Snowstorm variant a distinctive and upscale appearance.

Interior Design and Comfort

Inside, both variants continue the black theme, offering a blacked-out dashboard, interior trims, and upholstery. The Desertstorm features a black steering wheel with white stitching, adding a touch of sophistication. The Snowstorm variant’s interior contrasts the black seats and steering wheel with white elements, maintaining a cohesive design theme. Both variants come with unique badges to highlight their distinct identities.

Advanced Features and Technology

The Gloster Storm range is equipped with a host of advanced features and creature comforts. Key highlights include seat massagers, themed carpet mats, dashboard mats, and premium JBL speakers, all fitted at the dealership level. Based on the top-spec trim, the Storm variants offer a panoramic sunroof, a 12-way power-adjustable driver seat with massage and ventilation functions, and wireless phone charging.

In terms of safety, the Storm range is loaded with the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). This comprehensive suite includes features like Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), and Lane Change Assist (LCA), ensuring enhanced safety for all occupants.

Powertrain Options

MG offers the Gloster with two diesel engine options. The first is a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine producing 159 bhp and 373.5 Nm of peak torque. The second is a more powerful 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel motor, generating 212 bhp and 478.5 Nm of peak torque. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The twin-turbo diesel variant also includes a 4WD option with seven drive modes: Snow, Mud, Sand, Eco, Sport, Auto, and Rock, catering to various driving conditions and terrains.

With the introduction of the Desertstorm and Snowstorm variants, MG Gloster continues to improve its position in the D-segment SUV market. These new variants not only offer unique styling and advanced features but also maintain the robust performance that Gloster is known for.
