After The Coldplay Kiss Cam Scandal, Here Are Some Facts About CEO Andy Byron And Astronomer

During the British band’s recent performance at Gillette Stadium in Boston, the stadium’s “Kiss Cam” zeroed in on two attendees who appeared far more than just colleagues: Andy Byron, the CEO of Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer.

As the camera projected them on the stadium’s big screen, Byron and Cabot were seen in a seemingly intimate embrace. Byron quickly turned his face away, while Cabot covered her in embarrassment.

But it was too late. Audience members recorded the moment, and the video soon exploded across the internet. From Instagram to X, the clip has been viewed millions of times, with users speculating about a workplace affair, especially since Byron is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, who was reportedly not present at the event.

The situation intensified when Coldplay frontman Chris Martin made a tongue-in-cheek remark from the stage, saying: “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re very shy.”

Online sleuths quickly identified both Byron and Cabot, and within hours, Byron’s wife was said to have removed his last name from her Facebook profile. What began as a humorous interlude during a concert has spiralled into a scandal involving corporate ethics, marital drama, and Silicon Valley’s culture.

Who is Andy Byron?

Andy Byron took over as CEO of Astronomer in July 2023, following years of experience in the cloud and data security sectors. Known for his business growth strategies and revenue leadership, Byron’s resume includes key roles at major tech companies.

Byron earned his degree from Providence College, a Catholic liberal arts college in Rhode Island. Though the college is academically rigorous, Byron’s exact field of study and earlier education details remain private. His background stands in contrast to many data and software executives who often hail from engineering or technical disciplines.

Professionally, Byron served as President and COO of Fuze from 2015 to 2016, helping scale the communications platform until it was acquired by 8×8. He later joined Cybereason, a cybersecurity firm, as Chief Revenue Officer, a role he held for over two years. From there, he moved on to Lacework, a cloud security firm, where he remained for almost four years before assuming the top job at Astronomer.

What is Astronomer?

Astronomer is a data infrastructure startup known for developing tools that support Apache Airflow, a powerful platform used by data engineering teams for orchestrating complex workflows. Under Byron’s leadership, Astronomer has continued to grow rapidly, positioning itself at the centre of enterprise-scale AI and data integration.

The company hit “unicorn” status in 2022, meaning it surpassed a $1 billion valuation. By 2025, that figure had reached $1.3 billion, making Astronomer one of the fastest-growing startups in the open-source data space.

In May 2025, the company announced a $93 million funding round, led by longtime investor Bain Capital. Byron stated that the funding would help build Astronomer into a “durable, lasting software company.”

Astronomer also announced a strategic collaboration agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS), aiming to help enterprises migrate legacy data systems to the cloud.

The partnership includes integrations with tools like Amazon EMR, Amazon Redshift, AWS Lambda, and S3, allowing Astronomer to streamline large-scale data processing for AI applications. With over 1,000 clients globally, the company has recently relocated its headquarters to New York City.

Who is Kristin Cabot?

Kristin Cabot is Astronomer’s Chief People Officer, overseeing HR strategy, talent acquisition, and workplace culture. She joined the company in 2024 with a strong background in people management and organisational leadership. A graduate of Gettysburg College, she hails from Boston and was previously married to Kenneth C. Thornby. Public records show that her divorce was finalised in 2022.

Cabot was once described by Byron in an internal memo as a “perfect fit” for Astronomer’s evolving culture — a quote that has since resurfaced online in light of the current controversy.

The now-viral Coldplay moment has led to intense public scrutiny of both Byron and Cabot. While there has been no official statement from Astronomer, unconfirmed reports suggest internal discussions are ongoing. Some online users claim Byron has issued a personal apology via social media, acknowledging the situation and expressing regret to his family, colleagues, and employees.
