As the Coldplay ticket frauds raising day by day, an 18 year old teenager from Chunabhatti and his friends have allegedly lost 2,2 lakh to cyber fraudsters, while buying tickets online for the January concert.

In the FIR, the victim alleged that he had booked 24 tickets worth Rs 2.2 lakh and later found out that the tickets were fake.

The teen informed police that while searching for the concert tickets online, he found a contact number that appeared to be legitimate and he initially paid Rs 7,000 via UPI to secure a ticket. Further he also shared the contact number to his friends who expressed interest in booking the ticket, which eventually lead them to loose Rs 2.17 lakh in total, on purchasing 24 tickets collectively.

As per the reports the teens were scammed with a fake confirmation email from the address confirmation@book-my-show.co, which resembled the official BookMyShow domain. But suspicion arose when his relative pointed out discrepancies in the email address.

With the Coldplay ticket scam keep on rising day by day, Anil Makhija, BookMyShow‘s Chief Operating Officer was questioned by the Economic Offences Wing on Thursday. The investigation found that BookMyShow listed tickets on their app for prices between Rs 2,500 and Rs 35,000. However, prospective buyers alleged that they were redirected to third-party websites like Viagogo, where tickets were sold at inflated prices.

Creating an awareness, BookMyShow had posted on the social media platforms that the tickets purchased from BookMyShow were the only valid tickets.

The anticipation for the Coldplay concert at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai in January 2025 is high, with tickets quickly selling out. Many fans have expressed frustration on social media over ticketing scams and inflated prices in the black market, prompting the police investigation. The band is scheduled to perform on January 18, 19, and 21 as part of its “Music of the Spheres World Tour 2025.”
