All About Anant Ambani’s Wedding
After months of celebration, the lavish wedding ceremony of Asia’s richest person’s son is underway in Mumbai. Anant Ambani, son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani tied the knot with Radhika Merchant on Friday.
The four-day event is the final stop to all the parties, the family has hosted since March. The extravaganza wedding performances were featured including Rihanna and Justin Bieber.

For the final showdown, celebrities from Priyanka Chopra, to Kim Kardashian, to former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair have arrived in Mumbai.
In a rain-soaked Mumbai, police closed roads in the area surrounding the Ambani-owned, 16,000-capacity Jio World Convention Center ahead of a red-carpet-style arrival event.
The guests arrived in custom sarees, lehengas and kurtas. International guests too were honored with traditional wear which was designed by major Indian fashion designers.
US wrestler and actor John Cena was also seen hugging and congratulating the host. He walked the red carpet in an embroidered sky-blue sherwani and white pants.
Pictures of Kardashians are being widely shared. The sisters have brought with them celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, along with a group of producers to capture every detail of the trip.
Former Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, British High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron and US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti are also in the city to attend the wedding.
On July 13, the guests attended Shubh Aashirwad and the wedding reception or ‘mangal Utasav’ is scheduled for July 14. Key roads in Mumbai are being sealed off for several hours a day until the festivities end on Monday.
The Ambani family has chartered three Falcon-2000 jets to transport guests for the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. Rajan Mehra, CEO of Club One Air, told HT that he expects over 100 private planes to be used for the event.
Adding up the pre-wedding celebration costs, Rihanna reportedly charged $5 million for Jamnagar’s performance while Justin Bieber is said to have charged $10 million. Including other logistics such as cruise liner, private jets and security, the wedding is expected to cost over $320 million.

Social media is flooded with wedding updates. However, the extraordinary opulence has also led to a backlash, city dwellers complained about the road closure which has worsened the traffic in the region. While others have come questioning the ostentatious display of wealth at the never-ending celebrations.
