Kochi, January 3, 2025 – Alhind Air, a Kochi-based private airline promoted by the Alhind Group, has reached a significant milestone following a successful Formal Meeting with officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Air Transport on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
The airline, set to commence operations by mid-2025, aims to revive the essence of South Indian aviation after NEPC, Air Deccan, and Kingfisher, according to a press release by the promoters. Alhind Air will focus on regional connectivity as a stepping stone to future global expansion, starting with routes across South and Central India.
According to senior officials at Alhind Group of Companies, the airline will launch with two ATR aircraft and plans to expand to a fleet of seven within two years. “We are committed to giving the airline an international identity while prioritizing regional connectivity in the initial phase, with plans to expand overseas,” said Reena Rahman, COO. “Our operations are grounded in ethical practices, and we welcome healthy competition from existing and emerging airlines.”
Alhind Air is one of the few companies to begin its journey by directly purchasing aircraft, underscoring its strategic and operational confidence, said the higher management.
The airline has already assembled a core team of seasoned professionals, including veterans with over 25 years of experience in the aviation, travel, and tourism sectors. Alhind Air promises to deliver world-class service, emphasizing passenger comfort and safety. Fleet maintenance will be handled by an in-house team.
The airline expressed gratitude for the strong support received from Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), GMR, DGCA, and the Kerala government. “We appreciate the unwavering support from all stakeholders and remain committed to upholding the legacy of exceptional service that defines the Alhind Group,” stated the higher-ups.
The airline’s growth strategy aligns with India’s Vision 2047, and the promoters believe Alhind Air will play a key role in shaping the future of Indian aviation.
