Indian Entrepreneur Vineeta Singh expressed her concern over fake news of her death and arrest that she has been dealing with for over five weeks. Taking to her X (formerly twitter) handle, Singh said though she had complained it to Meta and Mumbai Cyber Police for several times, the fake news about her death continue to pop up.
Been dealing with paid PR about my death & my arrest for 5 weeks. Ignored it at first, then reported to @Meta several times, filed @Mum_CyberPolice complaint but it’s not stopping. The hardest part is when folks panic & call my mom 🥺 Few of the posts are below. Any suggestions? pic.twitter.com/XYyQ5G2EoM

Sharing the screenshots of some of the news stories, she said the hardest part of being victim to the fake news is when people reach out to her mother to know whether the news is real. One of the shared screenshot showed an Instagram ad which was shown as posted by Preye Odede, a Nigerian singer. It was captioned as, “This is a sad day for India. We say goodbye to Vineeta Singh.”
Another one had a photoshopped clipping of Indian Express report which said, “Vineeta Singh’s husband went ballistic when he learnt how much his wife earns”. The report also mentioned about her death. Another ad was once again a photoshopped clipping of Indian Express. It asked, “What will happen to Vineeta Singh?”. Another screenshot showed the story claiming that an Indian bank is suing Vineeta Singh for what she said on TV. This was also a photoshopped picture of Indian Express.
Though Vineeta is not being sued by any bank and is perfectly fine, the ads reached several people through Meta platforms. It is not clarified how why and by whom these ads are being run. Vineeta Singh was last seen as a Shark in Shark Tank 3 along with Aman Gupta and Anupam Mittal.
