ISRO To Handover Rocket Production To Private Companies: Report
New Delhi: India’s space programme is heading towards a major restructuring. The country’s space research organisation, ISRO is likely to hand over rocket manufacturing right to private companies.
The private firms will take major roles in productions of rockets and launcIh vehicles and satellites, India Today reported citing sources.
Explaining the transition, IN-SPACe Chairman Dr Pawan Goenka said the Space agency would increasingly focus on research, advanced technologies, scientific missions and infrastructure. He said the top Space organisation will not make any launch vehicles and will not manufacture any launch vehicles, adding that it will all be done by the private sector or PSU.
