Lulu Mall Kozhikode Inaugurated, "Dream Project," Says Lulu Group's MA Yusuff Ali

Lulu Mall in Kozhikode was officially inaugurated today.  MA Yusuff Ali, the Chairman and Managing Director of Lulu Group International called Lulu Mall Kozhikode as a personal “dream,” and expressed his satisfaction at seeing the mall finally open its doors, highlighting that it will provide employment to 3,000 young men and women. “I am very happy to give employment to my fellow citizens, particularly Keralites,” he said, marking the mall as an essential step in contributing to the local economy.

Spread across 3.5 lakh square feet, the mall offers three floors of retail space, hosting an array of national and international brands. A key highlight is the 1.5 lakh square feet Lulu Hypermarket, which promises a wide range of products and services. The mall will also host Lulu Connect and Lulu Fashion. Shoppers can also enjoy a 400-seater food court featuring 16 brands, including a Pan-Asian restaurant. Additionally, the mall includes a dedicated children’s gaming arena, making it a family-friendly destination.

Situated at Mankavu, Kozhikode, the mall officially opened to the public today and is expected to become a central hub for shoppers in North Kerala. Its tagline, “the world may come to stop at Lulu Mall Kozhikode,” reflects the mall’s aim to cater to the varied needs of spendthrifts in the region. The facilities also include accessible entrances, a nursing room, and other amenities designed to enhance the shopping experience.

Yusuff Ali also shed light on other ongoing projects by the Lulu Group, notably India’s largest shopping mall in Ahmedabad. “I have spent over four years in Ahmedabad, and it is my responsibility to start it there,” he said, emphasising the strong support he has received from the central government.

“I am getting full support from the central government, the Ministry of Commerce and all the ministries of the central government…In Lucknow, our expecation (of football) was 30,000. Now more than 60,000 people are coming to our shopping mall in Lucknow. So the people of Uttar Pradesh are very happy,” he added.

Lulu Group International, a multinational conglomerate headquartered in Abu Dhabi, operates in 25 countries, employing over 70,000 people. Known for its hypermarkets and malls, the group plays a significant role in the Middle East’s economy with an annual turnover of USD 8 billion.
