The National Testing Agency (NTA) the central body authorized to conduct the national-level entrance examination is allegedly marred with irregularities charges and has seen a major shift in terms of a new director general and a committee formation to recommend some structural reforms in the NTA functioning.
The recent examination-related controversies have impacted the functioning of the NTA that followed the cancellation of several exams including the UGC-NET, and CSIR-UGC-NET exams among others. This has also delayed the announcement of the CUET-UG 2024 examination result which was expected to be announced in June.

The agency had released the provisional answer key and asked for the challenges against it till July 9. The final answer key will be released soon followed by the result declaration. The entire process of answer key release and result has been delayed by nearly 1 month which will further cause the delay in the counseling process and admission procedure. This will impact the admission process of a total of 261 universities accepting CUET UG 2024 scores and over 10 lakh students seeking admission into higher studies.

This year the CUET UG 2024 was held in the hybrid mode with both pen-and-paper mode and computer-based test (CBT). In 2022, the exam was conducted in online mode and had technical glitches also the examination was conducted over multiple shifts, which led to the normalization of the score.
Over 14 lakh students registered for the CUET this year and nearly 10 lakh appeared for the exam. The exam took place from May 15 to May 29 across 379 locations.
