The Delhi government’s Department of Education (DoE) has announced the admission schedule for Nursery, KG, and Class 1 in unaided recognized schools for the 2025-26 session. As per the announcement, the admission process will start on November 28, 2024.
This process will be for students below 6 years of age under open seat admissions other than those belonging to the economically weaker sections (EWS), disadvantaged categories (DC), and children with special needs (CWSN). Notably, following the Right to Education Act provisions, 25 percent of the seats are reserved for EWS, DG, and CWSN students.

To ensure transparency, the Directorate directs schools to display the admission timeline on notice boards and school websites. A non-refundable registration fee of Rs 25 will be charged by the schools and the purchase of a school prospectus will be optional.
As per the circular, the minimum age for admission into the nursery is 3 years, 4 years of KG, and 5 years for class 1, as of March 31, 2025. The upper age limit for admission is less than 4 years for nursery, less than 5 years for KG, and less than 6 years for Class 1.
On November 25, 2024, schools are required to upload their specific admission criteria and corresponding points on the Directorate’s module. The admission process will start and forms will be available on November 28, 2024. The last date for submission of application forms in schools is December 20, 2024.

The first list of the selected candidates will be issued by January 17, 2024. From January 18 to 27, 2025, parents can resolve queries regarding the points awarded. On February 3, 2025, the second list of selected candidates will be issued and the admission process will officially close on March 14, 2025.
The DoE said that a computerized draw of lots for online application for CWSN candidates was conducted on Tuesday and for EWS and DC category candidates, a separate admission list will be released.
