After issuing the schedule of practical exams, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to release the class 10th and 12th board exams date sheet in December 2024 on its official website. Notably, the practical exams are starting on January 1, 2025, with theory exams from February 15, 2025 onwards.
However, for winter-bound areas schools affiliated with the CBSE, the practical exams will be held earlier from November 5 to December 5, 2024. This allows such schools to complete practical assessments ahead of their winter closures.
This session around 44 lakh students are expected to sit for the CBSE board exams all across the country in nearly 8,000 schools in India and 26 international schools. CBSE expects to see one of the largest participation in the recent years.
Also, the CBSE has introduced a shift toward competency-based questions, to promote a practical understanding and way of knowledge instead of rote learning. For class 10, 50% of the questions will be competence-based, and for class 12 around 40 to 50% will be based on competency. Such questions will help in analyzing the critical thinking and real-life application of the theoretical concepts.
