IISC, TIFR, Shoolini, AMU Secure Top Ranks In US News 2025 Global Rankings; Harvard Tops Globally

The Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangalore, has secured the best institute position in India in the US News and World Report, and with an overall global ranking of 633 in Best Global Universities. The second and third ranks in India are secured by the IIT Madras and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). The global rankings of IIT Madras and TIFR are 641st and 660th.

Next, Shoolini University and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have secured fourth and fifth ranks, respectively, with a global score of 47.7 and 47.6. IIT Bombay secured rank 6, and Vellore Institute of Technology followed in the seventh spot among Indian higher educational institutes.

IIT Delhi and Jamia Millia Islamia jointly secure rank 8, and Symbiosis International University ranked at 10.

Globally, Harvard University maintains its position as the top global university. Harvard is closely followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford University in second and third position, respectively.

The fourth and fifth ranks are bagged by two UK universities, i.e University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, respectively. Also, the University College of London has secured the 7th rank.

U.S. universities have dominated the list with 7 among the top 10 ranks. The University of Berkeley is in 6th position, the University of Washington is at 8th, Yale University is at 9th position, and Columbia University is at 10th rank.

China’s Tsinghua University is ranked in 11th position under the ranking.

The 2025-26 Global universities ranking includes universities from more than 100 countries and evaluates more than 2,250 schools on academic research and reputation.
