A video of an African student making election promises during the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) elections is making the rounds on social media. The speech, inspired by the Bollywood film 3 idiots, drew accolades while netizens praised the student’s fluency in Hindi. Notably, the student from Africa is running for the post of Secretary in the university elections.

Reading out a speech at AMU’s Nadeem Train Hall, reportedly written by fellow students, he promised students Air Conditioners (AC) to abate the intense heat in the hostels, a washing machine facility, and arrangements of tea thrice a day in the hostel. The most unique thing about the speech delivered by the African student is the fluency in Hindi delivery, comic timing, and performance, which won praise from students at AMU.

In the viral video, the AMU student could be seen saying “Mai Jhoota promise nahi karunga. Aajkal bohot garmi hai to islie mai sabko AC doonga. Aur har floor par washing machine dunga”.

Reflecting the pattern of speeches of politician during elections, the student was also seen making large promises, of giving metro line from the hostel to the campus and also promised the construction of Swimming pool facility, while students were seen chanting and supporting his promises.
