Jamia Millia Islamia Receives Record Number Of Applications For Ph.D. Session 2024-25

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has reached a significant milestone by receiving a record number of applications for its Ph.D. program for the academic session 2024-25, the university said. The university has invited applications for admission to 68 Ph.D. programmes spanning various faculties, departments, and centers.

A total of 7,106 applications were received, including 3759 from the exempted category and 3347 from the non-exempted category. The admission tests were conducted on November 30 and December 01, 2024, at six distinct centres situated on the university campus.

The last date for submitting the online admission form was initially set for October 30, 2024, but was subsequently extended to November 15, 2024. Additionally, the form remained available for editing until November 18, 2024.

The Vice-Chancellor has instructed the Office of the Controller of Examinations to issue a scorecard for each student, outlining the final marks obtained in the admission test.The initiative has been implemented to enhance transparency in the admission.

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) offers a diverse range of PhD programs across various disciplines. These include studies in Dalit & Minorities, Design, Development Extension, Environmental Science and Management, and International Studies focusing on Arab-Islamic culture. The university also provides doctoral research opportunities in Applied Psychology, Biosciences, Biotechnology, and Nanotechnology, among others. Engineering fields such as Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Computer Engineering are covered, as well as interdisciplinary areas like Gender Studies, Peace & Conflict Studies, and Social Exclusion. Additionally, JMI offers PhD programs in areas such as Law, Commerce, Mass Communication, Media & Governance, and Tourism. Humanities and languages like Arabic, English, Hindi, Persian, Sanskrit, and Urdu are also well-represented, ensuring a wide array of academic exploration and research at the doctoral level.
