
Over 50% DU Freshers Choose Fourth Year Under FYUP
The Delhi University has started its new academic session from August 1, 2025, both for first-year students and those entering the fourth year under the Fourth Year Undergraduate Program (FYUP). Notably, the FYUP is being implemented in full for the first time.
To guide newly entered students, orientation programs were held at several colleges. Over 55 percent of the eligible students opted to continue into the newly introduced fourth year. DU Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh said that a total of 31,004 students out of 71,000 students opted for the fourth year under FYUP.
Delhi University has undertaken 71,624 undergraduate seats across 79 programs in 69 colleges.
Notably, DU has released its 2nd selection list of candidates and will give out two or three more lists for various colleges.

Moreover, the top colleges in terms of cut-offs remained Hindu College, St.Stephen’s College, LSR, SRCC, Miranda House, and Hansraj College, with minimum qualifying marks reaching above 900 scale.
In top priority colleges such as St. Stephen’s, Hindu College, and Hansraj College, multiple seats are vacant for Science Stream students. However, in these colleges, seats in humanities and commerce subjects have almost been filled in various categories.
The university has also released the vacant seats matrix for the UR CSAS 2025-26 available on the official website – admission.uod.ac.in.
Candidates who have not secured colleges of their choice in the first round can look at the list available to fill in their colleges and subjects. The availability of seats for different subjects will help students to choose colleges and subjects wisely to enhance their chances of getting into the best colleges.
