Delhi University Exams: Date Sheet Clashes With Classes; Leaves Faculty Puzzled

Delhi University has released the date sheet of semester examinations for undergraduate programmes, which coincides with a month-long class schedule, leaving the faculty puzzled. As per the schedule released by the DU, semester exams for undergraduate programmes are starting from December 10, 2025, till January 30, 2026.

However, the classes for the even semester will commence on January 2, 2026, causing an overlap between the ongoing exams and classes.

As per The Hindu report, Prof. Mithuraaj Dhusiya, Executive Council member of DU, said, How can students appear in exams and attend classes together for a whole month? How will teachers invigilate, teach, and attend different evaluation centres simultaneously for a whole month? Do colleges have the infrastructure to run both exams and hold classes together for one whole month?

Under the same report, Abha Dev Habib, Associate Professor at Miranda House, said that nearly Lakhs of students are supposed to take exams and classes under the next semester simultaneously. Teachers are supposed to teach next semester’s courses and do examination-related work- invigilation and evaluation at the same time. According to Habib, this may lead to an acute shortage of space and push many classes to be held online.

University officials have not commented on the confusion about the same issue.
