DU Suspends Ramanujan College Principal Over Harassment Charges
The Delhi administration has suspended the principal of Ramanujan College after a faculty member accused him of harassment and misconduct. The complaint was filed on March 13, and the suspension was enforced on September 18 following the submission of a probe panel’s report.
A three-member committee was constituted to review the allegations raised by the aggrieved faculty member against the college Principal. The panel’s findings were submitted to the Vice-Chancellor, Yogesh Singh, and are now being subjected to examination by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).

However, the university has not issued any official statement on the matter so far.
The principal, while rejecting the charges, reportedly wrote to the Prime Minister’s office on September 13 and termed the allegations as ‘false, fabricated, politically motivated and baseless’. He alleged that the complaint was filed to discredit and remove him, claiming it was filed soon after her promotion was withheld due to ‘incomplete documentation’.
Emphasizing the mental, emotional, and professional distress, the Ramanujan College principal has sought protection against what he describes as malicious and politically driven harassment.
The principal also questioned the complaint process, as it was not forwarded to the ICC as per the UGC norms and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act.

Alleging the mounting pressure, the principal said that he was forced to resign under the threat of suspension.
Now, ICC will review the panel’s findings before the university takes the final decision.
