SAU Students Boycott Classes Amid Gang Rape Attempt Case; Demand Fair Enquiry
Following the alleged gang rape attempted case of a B.Tech first-year student and the apathy of the South Asian University (SAU) administration towards bringing justice to the victim, the SAU students boycotted the classes on Wednesday. The protesting students demanded the suspension of two hostel staffers for negligence and demanded swift justice.
Despite the FIR having been registered on Monday, no arrests have been made so far. The police have confirmed that one of the accused was a security guard. As per the senior police officials, the investigation is underway, and evidence is being collected from the CCTV footage and recording statements of guards, caretakers, and others on campus.

According to the victim’s complaint, she had been receiving threatening emails from an unidentified person who allegedly possessed her morphed images. The sender coerced her to reach a deserted campus sport, warning her that her images would be used if she refused. After repeated threats, when she reached the location, four men allegedly assaulted her and tried to force pills into her mouth.
Protesting students released a statement alleging that hostel authorities made insensitive comments about the survivor’s condition. The girl was asked that how she appeared to be normal if her complaint was true. She was accused of tearing her own clothes and even told to take a shower, which would have tampered the evidance, the protesting students noted.
