Calling it a sting operation, the SP supremo said more such videos and audios of election rigging and manipulation by the officers are coming out.

“When they lose their jobs and get defamed in society, maybe then their integrity and conscience will wake up. The government will wash its hands off them after using them, then they will be in jails and will live a life of disgrace in the eyes of their society, family, and children,” Akhilesh Yadav wrote in an X post.

He further lauded the “honest and truthful” officers who refused to accept the ‘target of fake voting’ given by the BJP party office, stressing that the Supreme Court and the Election Commission should take immediate cognisance of such “enemies of democracy.”

The SP chief had posted several videos and audio clips in connection with alleged police involvement and influencing of the voters during the ongoing by-elections. The by-election was necessitated after SP MP Awadhesh Prasad vacated the seat following his victory in the Lok Sabha election from Faizabad last year.

A constituency in Ayodhya district, the Milkipur by-election, is crucial for the saffron party, especially after it faced humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha election from the Lok Sabha constituency consisting of Ayodhya, which is home to the BJP’s celebrated poll promise, Ram Mandir. Thus, the election has turned into a fiery prestige battle for the BJP.

The SP has alleged that the police are checking the ID cards of voters, instilling fear among them, and then influencing the mandate. The SP MP Awadhesh Prasad accused the BJP of consistently trying to influence the by-election. He also said that as the voting is underway today since 7 am, he received information that his party workers are being chased away from the polling booths.
