Gurgaon district is crucial in the Haryana Assembly elections with approximately 1.5 million voters and four assembly seats: Gurgaon, Pataudi, Badshahpur, and Sohna. According to the Election Commission, Gurgaon witnessed a low voter turnout which was only 57.96% on election day. Haryana Assembly elections have 1,031 candidates in the fray including 101 women and 464 independent election candidates.

The Gurgaon seat is a key constituency with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winning the last two state assembly polls. This time, the BJP has fielded Mukesh Sharma against Congress Party’s Mohit Grover while Nishant Anand is contesting on behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party. Gurgaon has nearly 4.4 lakh voters and it is the second-largest constituency in Haryana. The contest between the BJP and Congress has been a neck-to-neck battle and remained fierce in the seats.
