The fight between Indian National Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party in Gujarat”s Vadodara Lok Sabha constituency is really tough. When Congress fielded 41-year-old Jashpalsinh Padhiyar, the BJP has opted for 33-year-old Hemang Yogeshchandra Joshi.
Joshi is one among the youngest faces the party has decided to give ticket to. Though earlier BJP decided to field the sitting MP, Ranjanben Dhananjay Bhatt, the party later changed its decision, and sought to keep a young and fresh face.
This is the first time for Joshi as a poll candidate. The politician is well educated. He is graduate in physiotherapy and post graduate in human resource management. He has done PhD on leadership in faculty of social work. He belongs to the Brahmins community and is the office bearer in Brahmin community organization.
Joshi is currently serving as the Vice Chairman of School Board of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC). The young politician is extremely active in the field. Reportedly. Joshi is also a writer and poet. He served in health department’s physiotherapy council during 2017-21. He was also the advisory member in Labour and Employment ministry during 2018-2020. He is founder member of Alidra school in Savli since 2017. Joshi has represented ASEAN in Vietnam, Maldives, UAE and Australia through the Ministry of External Affairs and India Foundation. He is BJP doctor cell’s youth wing convener.
The voter turnout of Vadodara was more than 68 percentage. Since 1998, BJP has been winning the seat. The first MP from Vadodara was Congress” Fatehsinghrao Gaekwad. The grand old party hopes to win back the seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
