Dalit activist and Congress leader Jignesh Mevani mocked BJP”s prediction of winning 400 seats. On social media platform X, Jignesh Mevani shared a video footage of chaos and uproar at a BJP meeting and expressed doubts about the saffron party”s claim of crossing 400. He shared the video on the social media on Monday.

However, the origin of the video remains unclear.

For the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, “Abki Baar, 400 Paar” is the slogan for the BJP and the NDA. During the election campaigns, the top leaders of the BJP and lower level party workers are stressing on the numbers. Even BJP”s allies are also included in the responsibility of delivering expected numbers.

On February, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told in Lok Sabha that the BJP will win 370 seats and NDA will get 400 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Similarly, in the last month, while addressing a public meeting ‘Vijay Sankalp Maharally’ in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad, PM Modi said that this time they will win over 400 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls since the country is relying on Modi’s guarantee. “Where all hopes from others end, Modi’s guarantee begins,” the Indian Express reports as PM Modi is saying.

Sharing the video on X, Jignesh Mevani wrote: “I don”t know if it will cross 400 but in the BJP meeting, 400 chairs are definitely seen jumping.”

Jignesh Mevani, two-time MLA from Gujarat is a staunch critic of BJP and PM Modi. He represents Vadgam constituency and was the face of Dalit agitation in 2016. In January this year,  in a big relief, Gujarat court acquitted Jignesh Mevani and 30 others in 2017 rail blockade case.
