Kirari Election Result: Ex-BJP, Current AAP Candidate Anil Jha Wins

Anil Jha Vats, a former Bharatiya Janata Party candidate and the current Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate, won the Kirari assembly constituency with 1,05,780 votes. He won the seat with a margin of 21,871 votes while BJP candidate Bajrang Shukla came in second with 83,909 votes.

Jha had secured victory over the Kirari assembly seat twice in 2008 and 2013. But he was unable to regain the seat for a third time for two consecutive assembly elections.

In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP’s Rituraj Govind won for the second time by defeating Anil Jha by a margin of 5,654. AAP had a vote share of 49.77 percent in 2020 in this seat.

In the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, Govind of AAP won the seat defeating BJP’s Anil Jha by a margin of 45,172. The party had a vote share of 61.66 percent in 2015 in this seat.

In the 2020 Assembly polls, AAP secured a massive victory, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP won 8 seats. The Congress failed to secure any seats in the election. This time, a triangular contest between the AAP, the BJP, and the Congress, the ruling party aims for a third consecutive term, while the saffron party hopes to make a return to power after 25 years, and the grand old party strives to make a comeback.
