Lalnghinglova Hmar, the candidate of Zoram People’s Movement believes his party will win 25 seats in Mizoram. Talking to ANI, he said currently he is leading with 2000 votes, ‘which looks healthy…but anything can happen in the second round”. He said ZPM is hoping “finger crossed” to win his constituency and a total of 25 seats in whole.
He further said, he does not follow the election trends but is confident that the party will win 25 sets. “My prediction on Polling day was 25 seats for ZPM”. He also added that it is too early to decide as it early hours since the counting started.
Mr. Hmar is competing from Aizawl West II constituency. He is a man who wears many hats, as he is a politician, journalist and sports promoter in Mizoram. Mr. Hmar works as the joint editor of a leading newspaper in Mizo language, Vanglaini, honorary Secretary of Mizoram Football Association and executive member of All India Football Federation.
The ZPM candidate entered politics in 2019. The representative of Indian National Congress in Mizoram, Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee and Zoram People’s Movement formed a coalition to compete against Mizo National Front and jointly supported Mr. Hmar as a candidate. He competed independently with his popular slogan, “Mipui Candidate” which means ‘People’s candidate’. His main objective was to battle against Citizenship Amendment Act.
