BJP President Nayab Singh Saini To Be Next Haryana Chief Minister

BJP chief Nayab Singh Saini to be the next chief minister of Haryana, the party told on Tuesday afternoon. Amidst a political turmoil in the state, his predecessor and senior party leader Manohar Lal Khattar and his cabinet submitted resignation to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya on today morning.

Nayab Singh Saini will take oath as the Chief Minister at 5pm. He will be the chief minister for the upcoming nine months before Haryana face assembly elections later this year.

Hailing from the OBC community, Nayab Singh holds significant influence within the community. Kurukshetra MP was appointed as the party”s state chief in October last year.

Congratulating the new chief minister, BJP Haryana- in-charge Biplab Deb wrote on X handle: “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to State BJP President Shri @NayabSainiBJP ji on being elected as the leader of the legislative party.”

“I am confident that he will take forward the development works of Haryana started under the guidance of Honorable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar ji and will take the state forward in terms of development,” he added.

Manohar Lal Khattar“s resignation on Tuesday came following indications of an impending split within the alliance between the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and the BJP in the state. The ties between both parties got severed as they failed to reach consensus on the seat-sharing agreement in Haryana ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

In the 2019 Assembly elections, the BJP secured 40 out of 90 seats falling short of a simple majority, following, a post-poll coalition was formed with the JJP, which holds 10 seats. Dushyant Chautala, the chief and co-founder of JJP, assumed the role of Deputy Chief Minister in this arrangement.
