Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Hakam Ali Khan defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Sharawan choudhary who is the son of famous politician Prem Singh. Fatehpur witnessed a tough three-cornered fight between Hakam (INC), BJP’s Sharawan and Nand Kishore (JJP). Hakam Ali Khan polled 84,194 votes while, Sharawan came second with 58,201 votes. JJP candidate who came third has garnered 23,851 votes.
The Rajasthan state recorded a voter turnout of 75.45%, in the assembly elections held across 199 of 200 assembly constituencies on November 25. The election for the remaining 1 seat has been adjourned. Fatehpur assembly constituency in Rajasthan is comes under Sikar district.
In 2008 assembly elections, Indian National Congress candidate Bhanwaru Khan had defeated BJP’s Nand Kishore Maharia. Bhanwaru khan was voted 47,590 votes and Nand Kishore was voted 39,326 votes. Nand Kishore lost by 8264 votes. The Constituency had total 1,71,896 electors.
In 2013 assembly elections, Independent candidate Nand Kishore Maharia had defeated Bhanwaru Khan (INC). Nand Kishore was voted 53,884 votes and Bhanwaru Khan was voted 49,958 votes. BJP”s Madhu Sudan came third with 30,495 votes then. The constituency had 1,42,692 voters and 8 candidates.
In 2018, Hakam Ali Khan (INC) won with 80,354 votes. Sunita Kumari (BJP) stood second with 79,494 votes. This time, CPM candidate Abid Hussain came third with 3,931 votes. The total electors were 2,30,365 in 2018.
Overall out of the total 199 seats, Bharatiya Janata Party has won 115 seats and Indian National Congress is second with 69 seats. BAP is currently at the third position in the total seat share. Along with Rajasthan, the assembly elections were held in four other states including Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. The results of these four states have also been announced and BJP won three major states in Hindi heartland.
