In the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly election, BJP candidate Kalicharan Saraf defeated Indian National Congress candidate Dr. Archana Sharma in Rajasthan”s Malviya Nagar Assembly constituency. Malviya Nagar witnessed a tough fight between the Congress and the BJP. While Kalicharan Saraf won a total of 92506 votes, Dr. Archana Sharma received 57012 votes. Notably, none of the above (NOTA) came in third with 1598 votes.
Malviya Nagar is one of the significant legislative assembly constituencies of Rajasthan state. The elections for the Rajasthan State Assembly were held on November 25, 2023, for 199 seats. In 2018, the Malviya Nagar constituency had a total of 22 candidates. The total polling in the 2018 election was 68.33 percent. In 2018, Kalicharan Saraf defeated INC”s Dr. Archana Sharma. Kalicharan got 70221 votes, and Archana received 68517 votes at that time. Nota came in third with 2371 votes then.
Meanwhile, out of the total 199 seats, the BJP won 115 seats, and Congress was able to get only 69 seats. Notably, independent candidates won nine seats. Along with Rajasthan, elections were held in four other states, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telengana, and Mizoram.
