Ashok Gehlot Extends Wishes To New Government In Rajasthan As BJP Takes Majority

Ashok Gehlot, the outgoing Rajasthan Chief Minister, extended his wishes to the new government as the BJP won 79 seats and is currently leading in 36 seats. On the other hand, the Congress party won 43 seats and is leading only in 26 seats, as per the Election Commission data.

“We humbly accept the mandate given by the people of Rajasthan,” wrote Ashok Gehlot in Hindi on his X handle. Ashok Gehlot also said that the defeat depicts that the party is not completely successful in taking their plans, laws and innovations to the public. “I wish the new government all the best,” added the Congress leader in an X post on December 3.

In Rajasthan, Congress mainly depended on the plans formulated by Ashok Gehlot, the senior member of the Indian National Congress (INC). Ashok Gehlot tried to regain power with seven pre-poll promises. In the Congress manifesto, which was released on November 21, the party also promised a caste census in the state if it returns to power. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is mainly focused on the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
