Hanumangarh Assembly constituency in the Ganganagar Lok Sabha constituency assumes a significant place in the political landscape of Hanumangarh district. This area forms a demographic mix with approximately 61.06% of its population residing in rural areas, while 38.95% are urban dwellers, according to the 2011 Census.

The 2018 elections were a gripping race between BJP”s Rampratap and INC”s Vinod Kumar. Vinod Kumar successfully regained his position with 1, 11,207 votes (49.87% of the total). The then MLA, Rampratap, on the other hand, received 95,685 votes (42.91% of the total). With their consecutive nominations from both parties in the elections, Vinod Kumar and Rampratap had grown to be well-known figures in the Hanumangarh political scene. Between the two, the MLA seat had been a swaying object; Vinod Kumar lost in 2013 but returned in 2018, boosting his vote share. The dynamic political landscape of the region of Hanumangarh Assembly, however, gave a new way to the independent candidate this time.

However, going by the latest reports, out of the total 199 seats in the state, the BJP wrested power from the Congress with a clear majority and emerged victorious in the state. BJP won a majority with 115 seats and the Congress came second, securing 69 seats. Along with Rajasthan, the Assembly elections were held in four other states including Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. Results of these states are also announced, with BJP becoming victorious in three states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, and Congress taking Telangana.
