
Shahdara Election Results: BJP's Sanjay Goyal Leads
As per the early trend, BJP’s Sanjay Goyal is leading with 25,905 votes while Aam Aadmi’s Jitender Singh came in second by securing 22,775 votes.
The Shahdara assembly constituency went to polls on February 5 along with the other 70 constituencies. The candidates in fray from the Shahdara are Jitender Singh Shunty of the AAP, Sanjay Goyal of the BJP and Jagat Singh of the Indian National Congress. In the previous assembly election, the AAP’s Ram Niwas Goel had won by a margin of 5,294 votes. BJP’s Sanjay Goyal had came in second securing 56, 809 votes.

The Shahdara constituency is considered to be one of the key seats of Delhi assembly seats. The constituency has 103,325 male voters, 97,072 women voters and seven transgender individuals. As per the 2011 census estimates cited by the State Election Commission, Shahdara has a population of 2,15,849 with Scheduled Castes (SC) making up 18.26 per cent of the demographic.
The Congress party had won three consecutive terms from 1998 to 2013. While, the saffron party was only able to win once. After ending the Congress rule in 2013, the Arvind Kejriwal led AAP formed the government in the national capital and further it had completed its second consecutive term (2015 to 2025). The national capital had recorded a voter turnout of 57.70 per cent till 5 pm in the single phase of assembly elections.
