Delhi Cantt Election Results: AAP's Virender Singh Kadian Wins

Delhi election results: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Bhuvan Tanwar was defeated in the Delhi Cantt assembly constituency by AAP’s Virender Singh Kadian with a margin of 2029 votes as per the updates published by the Election Commission of India on its official website. As per the latest lead reports from various media houses, BJP is leading in over 40 seats out of the total 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly.

In Delhi Cantt, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Virender Singh Kadian defeated BJP’s Bhuvan Tanwar and Indian National Congress’ Pradeep Kumar Upmanyu. The Congress candidate finished third.

Kadian was polled 22191 while Tanwar got 20162. The Congress candidate got 4252.

Bhuvan Tanwar is the son of former MLA Karan Singh Tanwar.

Delhi Cantt has seen the constituency shifting its political allegiance since its formation with BJP, Congress and AAP. In 1993, Karan Tanwar of Bharatiya Janata Party and in 1998,  Kiran Chaudhary of Indian National Congress were elected from this constituency. Karan Tanwar was re-elected in 2003 and 2008. Since then Surinder Singh Dalal (2013) and Virender Singh Kadian (2015 and 2000) of AAP won from the elections from Delhi Cantt.

The results for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections will be announced on Saturday, February 8, determining whether the AAP can secure a fourth consecutive term or if the BJP will reclaim power after 27 years. The Congress, once dominant in Delhi politics, is also attempting a comeback but is expected to remain a minor player.

The counting of votes commenced at 7 am, with initial trends emerging by 8 am. The final results are expected by 6 pm, with real-time updates available on the Election Commission’s official websites.

A victory for AAP would reaffirm Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership and solidify the party’s national ambitions. A loss, however, could weaken its influence beyond Delhi, particularly in Punjab and Gujarat.
