A Revanth Reddy, who is currently leading the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), has joined Congress only six years ago. He was erstwhile part of N. Chandrababu Naidu”s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and a two-time legislator representing Kodangal constituency in Andhra Pradesh Assembly between 2009 and 2014 and Telangana Assembly between 2014 and 2018. Revanth Reddy, one of the close confidants of Chandrababu Naidu, left TDP for Congress in 2017, resigning from the position of working president of Telangana TDP. Within a short span of time, he managed to become working president of Congress” state unit, Congress MP in the 17th Lok Sabha, and now Telangana Congress President.
The 54-year-old leader is known for his fiery leadership, authoritativeness, and his frontal attack against the BRS supremo and chief minister of Telangana, K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). The staunch criticism of KCR and his governance has given the Congress chief stature of a controversial figure in the state politics. He does not mince his words, and his street fighting ability with sharp tongue and aggressive attitude have followers in the party, especially, it allures youth. The mass appeal, and unafraid attitude made the grand old party to place him to the post of Congress President in June 2021, replacing N. Uttam Kumar Reddy. By choosing him, Congress hopes to revamp their foothold in Telangana and present a strong opponent to KCR. By deciding to contest against KCR in Kamaraeddy constituency, Revanth Reddy has exhibited his tough spirit and also Congress”s conscious stance of dismantling KCR”s image an unattainable, or towering leader afraid to be touched upon. Besides, Revanth Reddy is contesting from Kodangal as well.
Revanth Reddy is not like many other senior Congress leaders. He is set on his path of objectives, and designed routes. Besides, it is being said that he enjoys the leverage of hailing from Reddy community, regarded as the strength of Congress since independence. Revanth Reddy possesses a huge team and network of handling his multiple social media profiles and WhatsApp groups with active participants from different districts. It enables to position him as a pan-Telangana star, and in election campaigns, rallies and meetings he is in high demand where leaders demand him to be their star campaigner. Aside from all this, Revanth Reddy is also an astute politician who knows about the possibility of lobbying to further the political interests.

As the assembly elections falls on November 30, Revanth Reddy”s leadership will reflect Congress”s future, and the possibility of emerging as the Chief Minister of Telangana even with his limited administrative experience.
