The founder-leader of Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) and incumbent Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao filed nominations on Thursday, for two assembly seats ahead of the upcoming state polls. As said by the party official statement, KCR will contest elections from two constituencies – Gajvel and Kamareddy.

Gajwel is part of the Siddipet district of Telangana while Kamareddy is one of the four constituencies in the Kamareddy district. After filing the nominations, KCR is expected to participate the Public Blessing Assembly in Kamareddy Constituency and will produce a speech.

Telangana Assembly election will be held on November 30 and the date of counting is scheduled for December 3 along with four other states – Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, and Rajasthan. The term of legislative assembly of Telangana will end on January 16. The nomination process for the state began on November 3 and will end on November 10.

On Saturday, KCR offered special prayers to Lord Venkateshwara at a local temple in the Konayapalli village of the Siddipet district, a traditional practice of him. He placed his nomination papers before the deity and sought blessings.

On Thursday, KCR reportedly left his farmhouse in Erravelli in a helicopter and landed at the helipad near the IOC campus in Gajwel. He submitted the nomination for the Gajwel constituency, from where KCR currently represents the Legislative Assembly of Telangana, around 11.30 am and met his supporters and party members by travelling on a party campaign vehicle.

He filed the nomination to Kamareddy constituency, where he is contesting for the first time, around 2pm in the afternoon. Subsequently, KCR is scheduled to address the gathering in the Praja Ashirvada Sabha meeting.

Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, often referred to by his initials KCR, is an Indian politician who serves as the first and current Chief Minister of Telangana since 2 June 2014. He is the founder and leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, a state party in India from Telangana. KCR is also known for leading the Telangana movement to achieve the statehood of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh. Previously, from 2004 to 2006, he served as the Union Minister of Labour and Employment.

Telangana is expected to witness a strong competition between BRS and the Congress. In the previous election, BRS retained power with large majority as it won 88 seats out of 119 and had a dominant vote share of 47.4 percent.
