In the recent Nizamabad Urban assembly election held for the Telangana legislature, BJP candidate Dhanpal Suryanarayana secured victory with 75,240 votes, while Congress candidate Mohammed Ali Shabbir claimed the second position with 59,853 votes. The incumbent MLA, Ganesh Bigala of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), secured the third spot with 44,829 votes.
When compare this to the 2014 election, Bigala Ganesh emerged victorious with 42,148 votes, surpassing AIMIM candidate Mir Majaz Ali Shaik who secured 31,840 votes. Surya Narayana Dhanpal lagged behind with 28,301 votes. The electorate count in 2014 was 256,951.
In the 2018 election, Bigala Ganesh maintained his hold in the constituency with 71,896 votes, while Congress candidate Taher Bin Hamdan secured the second position with 46,055 votes. Laxmi Narayana Yendala of BJP claimed the third spot with 24,192 votes. The 2018 electorate count stood at 241,481.
The Telangana Assembly currently sees the Indian National Congress (INC) holding a significant majority with 59 seats out of the total 119. Following closely, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BHRS) secures the second position, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) occupies the third spot. The political preferences of Nizamabad Urban residents mirror the changing and dynamic nature of governance in the region.
