Ahead of the Lok Sabha election 2024, Makal Needhi Maiam (MNM) president and actor Kamal Haasan announced that good news will be declared soon regarding the alliance with DMK.

While speaking to the reporters at Chennai airport, the Tamil actor referring to the Parliamentary polls preparation anticipated a “good opportunity” and added that the election works are going well, reports NDTV.

Several months ago, he indicated his leaning toward the DMK-led alliance. TOI has reported that the MNM chief is expected to initiate talks with DMK after he returns from the US in the early hours of Monday. The sources have also confirmed that Kamal Haasan and the DMK chief will hold a meeting after the brief budget session in the state assembly which will commence on Monday.

“In two days I will meet you with good news. Work for the Parliament election are going well and we are hoping for a good opportunity. Regarding the alliance, we will announce the decision in two days,” Kamal Haasan has said.

Kamal Haasan is expected to announce his stand on alliance on the seventh foundation day of MNM which is 21st February. The MNM chief gave the hint regarding the alliance at Chennai airport on Monday after arriving from the US, completing the shoot of his upcoming film ‘Thug Life’.

Earlier in September last year, DMK leader and Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has already hinted at the party’s move to form an alliance with Haasan’s MNM.

During the Sanatana Dharam row, Kamal Haasan too had come in defense of Udhayanidhi stating that the minister was being targeted just because he spoke about Sanatana.

Kamal Haasan formed MNM in 2018 was defeated in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and 2021 Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu.

The MNM chief was also earlier seen alongside Congress MP Rahul Gandhi embarking on his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra when it reached Tamil Nadu earlier in December 2022.
