Rs 35 Crore Offer, Stalin's Prediction For Re-Election: Alleged Plot To Topple Vijay's TVK Government In Tamil Nadu
Chennai, Tamil Nadu: MK Stalin’s DMK is allegedly trying to topple the actor-turned-politician Vijay’s TVK government in Tamil Nadu. The TVK and its allies have made allegations against the opposition DMK and AIADMK.
Former chief minister and DMK chief Stalin recently claimed that Vijay’s party-led ruling government lacks a stable majority and heavily relies on the support of outside allies to survive. He also cautioned the DMK workers to be in “election mode” as the TVK administration might not complete its full five-year term. The former chief minister warned that re-election can come at any time.
Tamil Nadu Minister and senior TVK leader CTR Nirmal Kumar accused the DMK of indulging in “horse-trading.” Notably, on July 1, Chennai police arrested three persons based on a complaint by a TVK MLA who alleged he was offered Rs 35 crore by a consultancy firm to back a motion against the Assembly Speaker.
The probe agencies have reportedly revealed that the plot involved engineering the simultaneous resignation of 15 TVK MLAs to bring down the Vijay-led government. Police have registered a case against Balaji’s brother Ashok for allegedly attempting to bribe the TVK MLAs.
