Uncertainty Over TVK Govt Formation Amid Buzz Over Potential DMK-AIADMK Pact In Tamil Nadu
Uncertainty continues over actor-turned-politician Vijay’s chief minister claim despite after delivering massive victory in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Election. The party secured 108 seats in the 234-member assembly, falling short of the 118 seats, the majority mark to form government.
Despite receiving support from Congress, the governor could not be convinced, leading to the lack of clarity over who will form a government in the state. Amid the constitutional stalemate, there are reports that Dravidian arch-rivals DMK and AIADMK may come together after over 50 years to form a government and keep Vijay out of power.

The TVK has threatened that all its MLAs would resigns if the DMK and AIADMK coalition is seeking to form the government in the state. The newly elected TVK MLAs held a meeting on Friday at party headquarters to discuss coalition strategy amid coup attempts.
CPM is set to begin its state secretariat meet at 10 am and decide on supporting either actor-turned-politician Vijay’s TVK or the Dravidian coalition, as both the coalition are seeking supports from smaller groups.

After declaring support to TVK, Congress Tamil Nadu committee on Friday posted with the text, “Don’t betray the mandate. Don’t manipulate.” The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Governor of attempting to deny TVK its “rightful democratic opportunity” to form the government through “backroom political manoeuvring”
