Ex-Chief Minister MK Stalin Says TVK's Win In Tamil Nadu 'Due To Instagram Hype'
Chennai, Tamil Nadu: Former Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK president MK Stalin attributed the DMK’s defeat to a campaign where children and young people were used to influence their parents via Instagram. He noted that this “planned situation” bypassed traditional campaigning and rendered the DMK’s election calculations incorrect.
During the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, actor/politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) grabbed 108 seats and 34.92% of votes, becoming the largest party and installing Vijay as chief minister with ally support.
Stalin’s DMK took 59 seats, inflicting a significant setback for the traditional Dravidian parties. Even Stalin lost his Kolathur stronghold. The DMK leader said that the TVK came to power only by using Instagram. The DMK leader was speaking at a wedding ceremony held in Thanjavu.
