Udhayanidhi Stalin Reiterates 'Sanatana Must Be Eradicated' As LoP In Tamil Nadu Assembly
Chennai, Tamil Nadu: Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday reiterated his controversial remarks that ‘Sanatana, which divides people, must certainly be eradicated.
The remark was made when chief minister Joseph Vijay was present in the front row, and he did not respond to the statement.

The DMK leader had earlier too repeated similar remarks about Sanatan culture. According to him, Sanathanam values separate people and therefore should be eradicated.
In 2023, the DMK leader said that Sanatan Dharma is a principle that divides people in the name of caste and religion arguing that uprooting Sanatan Dharma is upholding humanity and human equality. The remark had triggered outrage from section of political prties and religious groups.
While addressing the house today, Udhayanidhi Stalin also expressed concerns over Vande Mataram, the national song, being played ahead of Tamil Nadu’s State song Tamil Thai Vaazhthu at the swearing-in ceremony. He further urged the TVK government in the state not to allow this to happen again, adding that Tamil Nadu state song should never be pushed to the second spot.
